Bill Hecker- AIA is an architect and nationally recognized accessibility specialist with more than 30 years experience in ADA, Fair Housing Act, Section 504 and building code analysis/training. While at Evan Terry Associates, Inc he wrote "ADA Facilities Compliance - A Practical Guide" published by John Wiley & Sons.

In 1984 he earned a Bachelor of Architecture from LSU. He was initially licensed as a Colorado architect in 1987 and since has been licensed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana. Holds NCARB Certification and has extensive experience teaching accessibility workshops since 1991.

Bill spent more than a decade as an Instructor in the Office of Executive Education at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, as well as being a co-presenter on "ADA and Construction Tolerances" at the 2014 National AIA Convention in Chicago.

Over the last 30 years he has served AIA as a "Task Group" Leader on ADA Issues on the Building Codes & Standards PIA, was a Council Representative for AIA Birmingham to Alabama Council AIA, and served as the Birmingham Chapter AIA Newsletter Editor.

He was appointed by the US Access Board as a member of their Public Rights-of-Way Advisory Committee and received the Accessibility Professionals Association Certification (APAC-BE). Bill has over a decade of experience as an expert witness for the US Department of Justice on ADA and Fair Housing Act design cases.

Key projects where Bill offered accessibility consulting and analysis include: Peer review of the New US Capitol Visitor Center Expansion for the Architect of Capitol & RTKL Architects; ADA Survey of Fenway Park – Boston, MA; Wal-Mart Super-Center Prototype ADA Plan Review for BSW Architects; as well as ADA and Illinois Building Code facility plan reviews of Wrigley Field Baseball Stadium addition just to name a few.
