Ken is principal of FILARSKIARCHITECTURE+PLANNING+RESEARCH, an integrated, multidisciplinary architecture and planning, ecology design studio/research workshop, recognized with national, regional, state, local awards.

Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a LEED Fellow of the U.S. Green Building Council, he is humbled with these prestigious honors. President of AIA/RI, 3-times, he served on the AIA Board of Directors, chaired 4 national AIA Committees, including Co-Chair of the AIA Disaster Assistance Committee, producing the AIA Disaster Assistance Handbook v4, COVID-19 guides, now serving on the AIA Resilience & Disaster Response Committee.  He originated the Master the Disaster game, and the Resilient Resource Advisors for post-disaster assistance.  A Certified Floodplain Manager, he is a certified disaster responder and disaster responder trainer. President of the RI Architects & Engineers Emergency Response Task Force 7, their Superstorm Sandy efforts were honored with a AIA National Service Award. Previous AIA efforts involved the Learning By Design Program, the Sourcebook, and the Component Operations Manual.
 
A Citizen Architect, he authored the nationally historic RI Green Buildings Act, incorporating LEED/LEED-ND/SITES into public law, receiving the Award for Planning for Sustainability & Resilience from the American Planning Association/RI, now Chairing its implementation. Member of the ASCE 24-14, 24-24 Committees they developed the "Flood Resistant Design and Construction" code standards. His public roles involve workforce development, net-zero ghg emissions economy-wide, zoning, statewide sustainability/resilience initiatives.

Ken is recognized as one of 25 Rhode Island "Leaders and Achievers" by Providence Business News and as the Champion and Environmental Advocate by Clean Water Action, the only architect ever honored with these prestigious awards. His Masters Degree in Architecture and Environmental Design is from Goddard Collage where he was a Graduate Teaching Fellow in their world renown Design & Construction program. ,Kenneth J.
