Melanie De Cola has been working in the field of architecture for more than a decade specializing in data visualization, graphic design and research in support of furthering high performance design and climate action in the built environment. Currently she helps firms move towards net zero operational and embodied carbon in their work by guiding the AIA 2030 Commitment and Materials Pledge. Previously, she aided firms in discovering, applying, and sharing research occurring across the field of architecture. Prior to joining AIA she worked for both a local DC architecture firm, Hickok Cole, and an international firm, Gensler, but got her start designing features and print media at Dwell Magazine and the non-profit Architecture for Humanity in San Francisco. Melanie is a LEED Green Associate, a former US DOE Solar Decathlon judge and a member of the DMV Net Zero Energy Coalition
