Mr. Heuer is an Architect and an Attorney. He is a Fellow in the Institute. His education encompassed a B.Arch. degree from Carnegie-Mellow University, an M.Arch. degree from the Ohio State University and a JD degree from the Washington College of Law at the American University. He was formerly the staff director of the National AIA Documents program. He was in-house counsel at TAC, The Architects Collaborative in Cambridge, MA, and has had his own law practice for 38 years, representing more than 250 design professional firms. He is the author of "Means Legal Reference for Design and Construction." as well as many other publications. Mr. Heuer created and ran (for 25 years) the LegaLine program for the AIA Trust. He was a Founder of The Jefferson Society, whose members are both architects and attorneys. He has been a frequent speaker over the years, having presented at 24 AIA National Conventions, 62 AIA sponsored programs and 98 programs for AIA Components.
