JinHwa has more than 25 years of experience in the design of senior living, residential, healthcare, hospitality, and mixed-use projects. She offers keen insight into design philosophies and current industry trends. Responsible for leading projects from master planning through construction documents, JinHwa is skilled in understanding and responding to the technical implications of design decisions—integrating a sustainability and research based approach to develop design ideas into practical, sustainable, buildable solutions.
JinHwa's interest in intergenerational design comes from cultural background. The advantages of intergenerational
interactions are significant—they reduce social isolation, boost self-esteem, create healthier physical and mental environments, and challenge ageism. Attentive to these substantial benefits, JinHwa is a passionate advocate for incorporating intergenerational philosophy into the US model. JinHwa co-founded the “Intergenerational Task Force
(IGTF)” in 2023 with four like-minded industry leaders, and is dedicated to evaluating the current needs for
intergenerational design in senior living, creating a strategy for its implementation, and advising senior
living operators and designers. In addition, JinHwa is collaborating with other practice thought leadership to expand the intergenerational design principles into greater community design platform.
