Elizabeth Chu Richter, FAIA, is CEO of Richter Architects based in Corpus Christi, Texas. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has championed the power of architecture to impact lives and elevate the human spirit. Her firm received the Architecture Firm Award from the Texas Society of Architects in 2011. In 2022, her firm received the GSA Design Excellence Honor Award for Architecture for the U.S. Land Port of Entry in Columbus, New Mexico. Elizabeth is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. She was elected as the national AIA President in 2015. As the 91st President, Elizabeth holds the distinction of being the fourth woman to have served as national president in the AIA's history. In 2021, Elizabeth received the Medal for Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Society of Architects. As a civic leader, Elizabeth served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, President of the YWCA, and President of the South Texas Public Broadcasting System.
