Goody Clancy


Jean Carroon is a principal emerita at Goody Clancy, a Boston based education design firm creating environments where people are inspired to research, connect, strive, and wonder. Jean is an industry leader in the synergies between building reuse, heritage, and environmental and social well-being. Her influential book, titled Sustainable Preservation: Greening Existing Buildings, was published by John Wiley & Sons in 2010. Elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in 2008, she is also a LEED Fellow and a Fellow of the Association for Preservation Technology. She holds a BA and M. Arch from the University of Oregon.

Jean has served as the Massachusetts representative on the Strategic Council since 2023 and is a member of the AIA Board Committee for Climate Action and Design Excellence. She is a former chair of the AIA Historic Resouces Committee and a past president of the Boston Society of Architects, where her focus was on raising awareness and knowledge about embodied carbon. As her friend and peer, Lori Ferriss, often says, "Building Reuse is Climate Action".
