With over 20 year of experience, Tom’s career in sustainable design has included roles as an in-house energy and daylighting analyst, energy efficiency researcher for NREL’s Building America Program, and project manager for several LEED certified and high-performance building. Tom has applied his expertise on projects ranging from the renovation of 14 historic homes as affordable housing which use less than half the energy of a code compliant house, energy analysis for the LEED Volume Certification of Chick-fil-A’s restaurant portfolio, to the net-zero global headquarters for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). In his current role, Tom works with design teams to leverage performance analysis at the early stages of the project design to find cost effective solutions to improve building performance and with selection of products that reduce the carbon and environmental impact of the building’s construction.
